Senior Attorney for the Youth Defense Unit

This is the only Youth Public Defender Municipal Unit in the State and I was hired to create it. Collaborated with over 30 community facing organizations, City Council, and others to help this be passed into law and then put into action.

Youth Policy Counsel 2023 Legislative Session
Attended stakeholder meetings on youth justice and reform; organizing, collecting, and analyzing data for policy team.
Stayed informed on youth justice and reform statewide and locally, particularly to address the harms of detention.
Created a Youth Justice Toolkit.
Worked on the "Let Kids be Kids" Bill to address the School to Prison pipeline, and the "Raise the Age" bill which aimed to end the prosecution of 10-12 year olds, and provide out of courtroom services and reduce systemic harm.
